Taking Delhi Metro from East Delhi to South Delhi is a very BAD IDEA

Finally, the Delhi Metro's Magenta Line opens for the public. I've been excitedly waiting for this Magenta Line to open hoping to have my commute cut down by half. Boy! I have never been more wrong in my life.

For starters, I live in Vasundhara Enclave, East Delhi which is about 15-20 minutes away from New Ashok Nagar Metro Station or Sector 15, Noida Metro Station. For me to travel to South Delhi via metro, I have to change multiple stations which I was prepared for. What I wasn't prepared for was the number of stops and how slow the route is when I look back. Let me explain.

I left my home at 6:30pm, got an UberPool for Rs 39 and reached New Ashok Nagar within 15 minutes. Took about 5 minutes to get in, go through the security and board the metro to Botanical Garden Metro Station. There, I changed the Metro to Magenta Line to go to Hauz Khas Metro Station. By the time I reached Haus Khas, it was already 7:35pm.

From there, I had to get to Yellow Line to get to Chattarpur Metro Station; it is a long-long walk. Probably about 400-500m.

I finally reached Chattarpur Metro Station around 8:15pm. The metro trip cost me about Rs 45 (I think; I don't remember). There, I booked another UberPool for Rs 39 since I didn't have cash to take an auto! :(

I finally reached my destination in Vasant Kunj at 8:35pm. Yeah, the metro ride cost me about Rs 120 in total and took 2 hours. TWO FREAKING HOURS!!

It usually takes 40-45 minutes or about 1 hour via UberPool when there's traffic and usually it's just about Rs 180-250.

Conclusion: I'm NEVER taking the Delhi Metro to go to South Delhi again. It's just painful. PAINFUL.
